Meet the Team

LAURA

Laura grew up in the Durham Region and has had a passion for animals all her life.

She met her first horse when she was 13 and has been in love ever since. Although she loved riding, she loved the horses more and how being around them brought a feeling of peace to her world.

She followed her passion for horses to Kemptville College, where she received her Agriculture and Equine Management diploma. Laura found that she also had a passion for helping people, so 6 years after graduating from Kemptville College she returned to Durham College, where she received a diploma for Social Service Worker. Throughout the years Laura has gained a lot of experience working with horses and people and has spent the last 14 years working as an Autism Assistant.

Laura owns two horses and practices natural horsemanship.

Fascinated by how horses have helped her she decided she wanted to combine her knowledge and skills and became a certified Equine Assisted Personal Development Coach through EAL Canada. Wanting to share with others the power of the horse.

MJ

MJ is a 16 year old Tennesee Walking horse. Laura purchased MJ when she was just two years old and they have been together ever since.

MJ is a very sweet and sincere little mare.

Tennessee Walking horses are a special type of breed, known for the gentle disposition and incredibly smooth 4 beat gaits. Tennessee Walking horses were bred for their sweet nature so it could be used as the family pet but also for its strength to work on the farm.

Most horses have the traditional gaits walk, trot, canter and gallop. Tennessee Walking horses have the flat foot walk, the running walk, canter and gallop.

If your interested in learning more about this breed follow the link to the Canadian Registry of the Tennessee Horse https://crtwh.ca/

RANGER

Ranger is a 18 year old Thoroughbred who Laura rescued when he was 4 years old.

Ranger was very afraid and had very little trust in humans. It has been an amazing experience being able to watch Rangers personality shine through as he overcame many obstacles, became more confident and trusting of the world.

Unlike MJ, Ranger carries the traditional gaits walk, trot, canter and gallop.

Thoroughbreds were bred to be war horses, but are now mostly known for speed on the race track. They are also used in the English disciplines such as jumping and dressage.

Ranger loves to be around people and is very curious.
